Thanks for visiting this page! Many parents wonder exactly what kind of rewards and consequences are given in the classroom. I am a firm believer in rewarding students for making good choices and for going above and beyond basic expectations. I also believe students learn to better adapt to those expectations when consequences are given for making poor choices. I would like to explain my personal classroom procedures for doing this.
Using our school wide expectation model, I include a system of rewards and consequences for student choices in my classroom.
*students receive tickets throughout the day.
*If a student earns tickets, they will save them until they have at least 10, at which time they can trade them in for some really neat prizes!
*If an expectation is broken, the student gets a verbal warning.
* If the student chooses to break an expectation a second time, the student will go to the refocus area for a short time. Students will complete a short form about the behavior and ways to improve. This form will be put in the student's Communication folder and should be signed by a parent/guardian and brought back the next day.
* In the event that the student breaks a third expectation, I will send the student to a Buddy Room or assign recess detention (depending on time of day and problem) and make contact with the parent. My goal here is to communicate with you as a parent and work together to help your child succeed in the classroom.
